Priority One: A Roddenberry Star Trek Podcast

Sep 26, 2012

26 September 2012 | Welcome to the third installment of Trek It Out! Trek It Out is a Priority One Production and hosted on www.priorityonepodcast.com. Trek it Out is conceived as a general interest Science Fiction podcast. In producing this show, our intention is to provide an outlet for news, interviews and opinions on topics that are not directly related to the main interest of Priority One, Star Trek Online. Trek It Out will not at this point be a weekly show. We will produce new Episodes of Trek It Out as the opportunity for great interviews and interesting topics presents itself. This episode on Trek It Out, we interview a man who was instrumental to shaping the sound of the Star Trek Universe – Mr. Doug Grindstaff! Douglas Grindstaff, Emmy award winning Sound Editor and Designer who inspired the Star Wars sound designers to create Darth Vader's voice, and created many of The Original Series sound effects we have come to identify with Star Trek, and headed up the Star Trek sound department. He shared many insights on Gene and the series we all love so much, as well as loads of Hollywood and backstage stories of cast & crew, info about the lost sound effects library of Star Trek TOS, rare glimpses into show moments and new revelations about the series, it's cast and crew. Douglas was featured in a very lengthy, multi-page article all about Star Trek Sound: Cinefantastique Magazine Volume 27 #11/12 July 1996 (Star Trek The 30th Anniversary) We are infinitely grateful to have had the opportunity to interview an industry legend and the man who shaped what was arguably one of the most important but unsung features of the original series. Thank you Mr. Grindstaff, for sharing your experiences with us and for bringing so much joy and hope to so many people around the world. Why wait any longer… Let’s go Trek It Out.
